PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommends re-opening Third Beach in Middletown, Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth, and the beach in Ginny B’s Campground in Foster for swimming because bacteria has returned to acceptable levels.

RIDOH will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season. The status of a beach may change on a daily basis. The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH’s beaches telephone line ().
