PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Pie-eating contests, pigs, cow chip bingo and more! The Eastern Rhode Island 4-H Country Fair returns this weekend to Portsmouth. 

The Country Fair will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16, at Glen Park, located off Glen Road in Portsmouth. 

The fair opens to the public each day at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.

Exhibit Hall entries will go in Saturday from 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. and will be picked up at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Animals must be checked in from 7:30- 8:30 a.m. on the day of their show and may leave at the conclusion of their show, but are also welcome to stay for the 2 days on exhibit.  Just indicate on the online entry if you are going to stay for the 2 days.

 

Saturday

8:30 a.m.- Deadline to check in exhibits

9 a.m.- Fair Opens

9 a.m. – Breed judging of Poultry and Rabbits

10 a.m. – Bike Parade

11 a.m. -4-H Rabbit and Poultry showmanship

11 a.m.- Egg on a spoon

noon – East Bay martial arts demo

noon- Ice Cream Eating Contest

noon- Pet Talent Show (tent 2)

1 p.m. – Corn Husking Contest

1 p.m. – Dance Expressions (tent 1)

1 p.m. – Antique Tractor Show

1:30 p.m. – Children’s Petal Tractor Show

2 p.m.- Villari’s Martial Arts Demo

2 p.m. – 4-H Sheep Show (tent 2)

2 p.m. – Donut on a string contest

3 p.m.- Egg Toss (horse ring)

4 p.m. – Pie Eating Contest

5 p.m. – Fair Closes

5:30 p.m.- Cow Chip Bingo Winner

5:30 p.m. – 10th Annual Chicken Dinner

 

Sunday

8:30 a.m. 4-H & Open Horse Show- rain or shine

9 a.m. – Fair Opens

10 a.m. – 4-H Open Beef Show (tent 2)

10 a.m. – Egg on a Spoon

10 a.m. – Garden Tractor pulls

11 a.m.- Pow Science (tent 1)

noon – Watermelon Eating Contest

Noon – Open Dairy goat show (tent 2)

Noon- Pow Science (tent 1)

12:30 p.m. – Children’s Petal Tractor Pull

1 p.m.- Ice Crea.m. Eating Contest

1 p.m.- Swine demonstration

1 p.m. – Antique Tractor Show

1:30 p.m.-  Cow Pie Throwing Contest- Pre-registration starts (event booth)

2 p.m.- Cow Pie Throwing Contest Starts- must pre-register at 1:30.

2 p.m.- Donut on a String

2:30 p.m.- Piñata 

3 p.m.- Egg Toss (horse ring)

4 p.m.- Pie Eating Contest

5 p.m.- Fair closes

 

Kid’s games & activities

Saturday

10 a.m. – Bike Parade- No registration, just show up with your bike decorated!

11 a.m.- Egg on a spoon- No registration required.

noon- Ice Cream Eating Contest- Just register 15 minutes before hand.

noon- Pet Talent Show (tent 2) Bring your pet, no registration but  ALL ANIMALS brought onto the fairgrounds must have current shots (DEM regulations apply).

1 p.m. – Corn Husking Contest- No registration required.

1:30 p.m. – Children’s Petal Tractor Show- Register 15 minutes before hand.

2 p.m.- Donut On a Sting Contest- Just register 15 minutes before hand.

3 p.m.- Egg Toss- No registration needed. (Horse Ring)

4 p.m. – Pie Eating Contest- Register 15 minutes before.

5 p.m. – Fair Closes

10 a.m. – Egg on a Spoon- No registration needed.

11 a.m.- Pow Science (tent 1)- Free kids Show

noon – Watermelon Eating Contest- No registration needed.
