The 5K run or walk will be held on Nov. 4 on a loop course along the scenic Sakonnet Greenway Trail. Participants are welcome to run or walk, and strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. There are prizes for each age group and a registration gift for each participant. A discounted registration fee is available to all who sign up by Oct. 15, and discounts for family groups and military participants are also available.
A training program is available through the Newport County YMCA; participants are offered a twice- weekly workout with a certified fitness instructor, a free gait analysis from OPT physical therapy, and one race registration fee.
The training program begins at the YMCA on Tuesday, October 3, and runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-7:30 am. Major support for the race was generously provided by the Petrovas Family, YMCA of Newport County, Rockland Trust, and Newport Restaurant Group.
