PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Common Fence Point Improvement Association (CFPIA) will hold a Lap of Love walk Sunday, snow or shine, to support fire victims.
From the CFPIA:
Please join us Sunday, February 18th at 1 pm to show support for those tragically impacted by the recent fires in CFP. We will have a “Lap of Love” where we will walk around the block behind the Community Hall. An informal reception will follow this rain, shine or snow event. Financial donations and gift cards for the victims will be collected. We are also looking for baked goods for the reception. Please join us!Thanks to everyone for their support!
On Feb. 7, an early morning fire on Narragansett Boulevard damaged three homes before being extinguished by Portsmouth and neighboring fire departments.
The remains of a body were later found by investigators. The body was later identified as Richard Kanauss, a 30-year resident of Common Fence Point.
The walk on Sunday will honor Kanauss and help support other victims of the fire. Residents are also encouraged to leave flowers at the Common Fence Point neighborhood sign.
