PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — While still a little more than a day away, the town of Portsmouth has announced its Christmas tree pickup schedule. Here’s a look at when your Christmas tree will be picked up in town.
The collection starts on Monday, Jan. 2. Trees must be placed at curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day.
Trees must not be in plastic bags and must be totally stripped of ALL decorations and tinsel. Residents that miss their pick up date can also bring Christmas trees to the DPW located off Hedly Street.
Trees will NOT be accepted at the Transfer Station. Trees will be recycled into mulch, which will be available free of charge to Portsmouth residents. For more information on when mulch is available, contact the DPW at (401) 683-0362.
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will pick up discarded Christmas trees using the following schedule, which is based on where residents voted in the 2016 election.
