PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Common Fence Music will hold its first Full Moon Festival, a mini-festival dedicated to songs and songwriters, on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
The concert will take place at Common Fence Point Hall, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth, RI. Tickets to the show are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets and information may be obtained at CommonFenceMusic.org, or at BrownPaperTickets.org by searching Common Fence Music. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
The Full Moon Fest will feature four acts, all New England-based artists who excel in the craft of melding word with melody. Opening the show is Molly Pinto Madigan, a Boston-based award-winning singer-songwriter hailed for her angelic voice and haunting compositions. Drawn to the magic of ballads, Madigan is a songstress and spinner of stories whose original work echoes with the whisperings of American and European traditional music.
Massachusetts-based duo The Lied To’s will also take the stage, showcasing their acclaimed country-tinged writing and performance style. Comprised of singer-songwriters Susan Levine and Doug Kwartler – each accomplished performers on their own – The Lied To’s came together in 2014, quickly garnering amazing reviews and praise for both their debut album (2015’s self-titled release) and live performances.
Providence-based singer-songwriter Chris Capaldi will follow with a set of songs that are both thoughtful and mature. A graduate of Berklee School of Music and music educator at the Wheeler School, Capaldi calmly and artfully delivers original pieces with a tender voice and skillful guitar playing, lushly accompanied by Emily Ziesler on cello.
Closing out the Full Moon Fest will be fiery dobro player Abbie Gardner. Well known as a member of Americana darlings Red Molly, Gardner is no stranger to solo performing – she has released three solo albums, each with award-winning songs. Tales of love and loss, both gritty and sweet, ride the back of her by-now familiar, formidable slide guitar licks. Channeling Lucinda Williams and Bonnie Raitt, she remains pure Abbie.
