PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Common Fence Point neighborhood association and Save the Bay will team up once again this year for an Earth Day cleanup this Saturday, April 22.
The cleanup will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Common Fence Point.
From the event Facebook page:
Our next clean-up with Save the Bay will be on Saturday, April 22, 10 am-12 pm in Common Fence Point, Portsmouth. Our meet-up and weigh station location will be across the street from the CFP Community Center 993 Anthony Rd. Clean-up supplies will be available all day at the weigh station.
Last year we picked up over 2700lbs of trash from our 3 miles of coastline and with ~30 lbs of new trash floating in from the bay each week, I expect we’ll have over 500 lbs of new trash to collect this spring.
Our target areas for the cleanup are the Sakonnet River Bridge North and South Beaches and along the roadway on Anthony Rd.
A huge thanks to the Portsmouth Cub Scout Pack 50 for volunteering to participate in this event.
Volunteers are welcome to attend! For more information or to sign up, visit the Facebook event page.
