PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Portsmouth police charged a woman with driving under the influence (DUI) after she called to report a road rage incident on Monday.
On March 26, at 6:30 p.m., Portsmouth police received numerous 911emergency calls about a vehicle that was operating erratically on East Main Road in the area of Union Street.
The callers said the vehicle was swerving in traffic and striking the curbing as it continued traveling in the roadway. At one point, according to witnesses, the vehicle stopped and blocked the southbound lanes of East Main Road.
Police then received a call from the operator of the suspect vehicle, 34-year-old Molly White of 53 Kerr Road, Portsmouth, who wished to report a road rage incident.
Upon arrival to White’s location, officers noted that the vehicle was still running and that the vehicle was damaged; however, White could not explain to officers where the damage occurred.
According to officers, White displayed extreme signs of impairment. After conducting sobriety testing, White was taken to the hospital where she was charged with DUI, first offense, BAC unknown.
White will be arraigned in Second District Court on Tuesday.
