PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Only 2 Portsmouth candidates are running for town clerk in the 2016 Election. Current Town Clerk Joanne is running against political newcomer Jennifer West.

Voters will also be asked this year to decide whether the Portsmouth town clerk position should be appointed (as in previous years) or an elected office.
