‘We need a bigger shack’; Flo’s purchases Mardi Gras shark

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Flo’s Clam Shack, a well-known seafood restaurant with locations in Portsmouth and Middletown, claimed online Tuesday to be the new owners of the 25-foot-long Mardi Gras shark recently posted for sale on Facebook.

Claiming they “need a bigger shack,” Flo’s Clam Shack announced the purchase on Facebook.

The shark was recently posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $1,000.

The massive shark is equally famous, previously sitting atop the Mardi Gras Multi Club on Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston.

According to Flo’s Clam Shack, the shark will be placed at the Middletown location first at 4 Wave Ave. near the Middletown town line and First Beach.

Both locations are currently closed for the season, but will likely take a “bite” out of competition this season with the new addition.
