PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Historical Society will hold a Harvest Social this month at Greenvale Vineyards, 582 Wapping Road.
“In the past, our farming ancestors gathered together in the fall of the year to celebrate the harvest and socialize with their friends and neighbors,” according to the historical society.
The Portsmouth Historical Society is keeping this tradition alive by holding an annual members’ Harvest Social to be held at Greenvale Vineyards on Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Jim Garman, president of the Historical Society, will discuss the current status of the society and a brief history of the local “Gentleman Farms,” which includes Greenvale Vineyards.
Our host, Nancy Parker Wilson, will also be present to introduce the latest vintages of Greenvale wines.
This will be an evening of socializing and sampling Greenvale’s fine wines. All Portsmouth Historical Society members and their guests are invited to join in the fun.
Tickets for this event will be $10 per person. Tickets may be obtained from any society board member, online at www.portsmouthhistorical.org and at the door.
Complimentary wine and light refreshments will be served.
Guests will be able to meet with society board members and discuss events or programs about local history.
