Local resident seeks help with emergency medical care for cat

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — A local resident is seeking help after saving a pregnant stray cat in need of emergency medical care.

Jessica Wheelock Cogswell recently started a GoFundMe page, entitled “Help us save Splodge,” after learning her pregnant rescue cat required an emergency C-section.

Cogswell posted the following on the GoFundMe page on Wednesday, May 24.

Splodge was a stray who decided we were her family. She took a few months to trust us, by the time she did she was already pregnant. She is only 11 months old. She has been in labor for 3 days and as of writing this is back with the emergency vet after giving birth to 5 kittens of which only one has survived. She still has 2 babies to deliver but it’s not looking good for them. In order to save her life she will need a C-section. This will cost us 2,000.00. the idea of losing this sweet sweet girl is heartbreaking. Please help

As of nearly noon on May 24, the organizers had raised $500 or 50 percent of the $1,000 goal.
