PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Meet Bernard, a brown and white domestic tabby mix, who is currently available for adoption at the Potter League for Animals

Bernard is a neutered male, and approximately 1 year and 4-months-old. He has been at the Potter League since Aug. 9.

From the Potter League:

While no Saint, Bernard is curious, rambunctious, and playful. He is also drop-dead handsome and VERY social. He is large for being only 1-year old, and loves attention. However, sometimes he confuses a petting hand with a toy. Vigilance is required. He has kittenish behavior X10.

His former owner describes Bernard: “He can be very entertaining but when he gets activated he can’t be stopped. He jumps 8-10 feet!” To calm him down and “punish” him, Bernard’s former owner tried squirted him with a water bottle, which Bernard loved. He is one in a million, and to think he lives in the Ocean State. Water, water everywhere.

Bernard has no experience with dogs, children or other cats. However, we think that an active feline playmate is just what he needs.

He is one of our “upstairs cats” and is currently guarding our conference room, which is strewn with his toys. If you would like to meet Bernard, ask at the front desk and he will be made available for a visit. Just be sure you remind them to bring a couple of toys down with him. The, be prepared for a bout of very serious, very entertaining, interactive fun.
