PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The second annual Mt. Hope Bridge Run takes place this weekend in Portsmouth! Find out more about this unique race below.
Gray Matter Marketing and the Rhode Island Bridge and Turnpike Foundation are excited to announce the second annual Century 21 Topsail Realty Mt. Hope Bridge 5k! The race will start at 7:30 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018, and will give runners and walkers the unique opportunity of crossing Mt. Hope Bay by foot on the historic Mt. Hope Bridge. Participants will be shuttled from designated parking at Roger Williams University in Bristol to the race start in Portsmouth, Rhode Island on Saturday morning.

Important Race Information:
Bib + T-Shirt Pick-Up
Registered participants will receive a race bib number and event shirt at registration which will be held on race morning, Aug. 11 at Roger Williams University. ALL PARTICIPANTS must pick up their race bibs and take the shuttles from Bristol on race day. There will be no bib pick-up in Portsmouth.

5:30 AM: Parking and Bib Pick-Up open
6:00 AM: First Shuttle Wave departs Bristol
6:30 AM: Second Shuttle Wave departs Bristol
7:30 AM: Race Start in Portsmouth
Note: Onsite registration is available from 5:30 – 6:15 for those not yet registered.
Parking & Shuttles
Parking will be provided at the finish line of the event adjacent to Roger Williams University on Old Ferry Road starting at 5:00 a.m. Shuttles will be provided to all participants and will run from 5:40 a.m. until 7:10 a.m. There is NO parking available at the starting line
All pre-registered participants have been assigned a bib number and corresponding shuttle assignment based on when they registered.
Shuttles will begin transporting athletes from Old Ferry Rd. in Bristol to the starting line in Portsmouth beginning at 5:45 AM. It is critical to event operations that all athletes abide by their assigned shuttle time. Times are based on your registration order. Those participants that signed up before July 8th have the later shuttle times. No shuttles will leave Bristol after 7:10 a.m. Shuttles are available for registered participants only. You will need your race bib to board the shuttle.
One lane of traffic will remain open on the Mt. Hope Bridge throughout the event, controlled by the Bristol and State police. All participants will be in the right-hand lane from Portsmouth to Bristol and will be off the bridge by 8:15 a.m.
Awards will be given out onsite for the top 3 overall male and females. There are no age group awards.
There is always the potential for extreme or severe weather conditions. Race organizers will do as much as we can to ensure the experience is as safe as possible. In the event of severe weather, the race may be delayed as race officials consult public safety officers. If there is more than a short delay, if conditions persist, or the forecast calls for extreme weather, race officials reserve the right to alter or cancel the race. Entry fees are non-refundable. Please check the website, our Facebook page and your email before the race for any changes or cancellations. All entry fees are non-refundable, and there will be no-rain date.
NO Strollers or Pets
We do not allow strollers or pets on the bridge.
