PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Portsmouth police released the following new details about Tuesday’s evacuation at Portsmouth High School.
Police released the following statement Tuesday at 5:57 p.m.
On Tuesday at 1:19 p.m., Portsmouth police received a call from Portsmouth High School that a bomb threat had been received.
The school was then evacuated due to the threat, with all students and employees held at a location outside until a secure dismissal could be conducted.
A search of the school revealed no explosive devices, with members of the Rhode Island State Police, K-9 units, and the Rhode Island Bomb Squad assisting. Middletown Police and Bristol Police also provided outside perimeter security.
This incident is under investigation by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division.
