TIVERTON, R.I. — Henry D. Silvia, Jr., age 96, of Tiverton, RI, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Newport Hospital in Newport, RI. Mr. Silvia was born February 5, 1921 in Middletown, RI. He is the son of the late Henry D. Sr. and the late Gertrude (Morinho) Silvia.
He married his first wife the late Delores Woolhouse and later his second wife the late Barbara Blackwell.
Mr. Silvia operated a dairy farm in Portsmouth 1933-1975. He then went on to own and operate B+H Variety Store in Newport, from 1975-1983.
He is survived by two daughters: Cheryl A. Field of Tiverton, and Sandy S. Burns of Middletown; one son: Mark A. Silvia of Tiverton; stepdaughter: Donna Lavigne; three stepsons: Bruce Allen, Glenn Allen, and Gregg Allen. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Britany, Colby, Alex, Zach, Dawn, Denise, Alyx, Brandon, and Nicole as well as several great-grandchildren.
Henry is predeceased by his son the late Henry D. Silvia III; his three brothers Tony, Larry, and Joe; and his two sisters Helen and Anna.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
