PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Kenneth Rosa, age 72, of Portsmouth died Monday, February 19, 2018, at South County Hospital surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born February 10, 1946, in Newport, RI, the son of the late Thomas F. and Anna D. (Vieira) Rosa. He was the loving husband of Carol (Arruda) Rosa for 44 years.
Ken served honorably in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Air Force, he began an engineering career with General Dynamics. He most recently worked for JC Penny before retiring 10 years ago. Ken also obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Johnson & Wales. In his spare time, he loved to travel and take cruises. Ken was an avid Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and photography. When his kids were young he was a camp master with the Boys Scouts. In recent days, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially asking for their help in feeding the birds.
Besides his wife, Carol, he leaves his daughter, Laurie Rosa and Michael Bolduc of Harrisville, RI and two sons, Kenneth Rosa and his wife Carissa of Omaha, NE and Matthew Rosa and Jennifer Parr of Smithfield, RI, his brother, Thomas Rosa of Lancaster, SC, his mother-in-law, Hellen Arruda, four grandchildren Savannah, McKenna, Chace and Matthew, his close friends Kathy and Bill Shorey, and his beloved dog, Ebony.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 4-7pm, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, February 26, 2018, at 10:00 am, in St. Barnabas Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth.
Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
