The Portsmouth Police Department, during a 4 hour period this morning, have issued 25 motorists a traffic violation summons for failure to stop at a crosswalk for a pedestrian. The Portsmouth Police utilized police officers wearing civilian clothes to enter the crosswalk on Turnpike Avenue, near the Portsmouth High School, and attempted to cross the street. Please keep all our pedestrians safe! Remember to yield to pedestrians crossing in our crosswalks especially now that school starts next week!
