PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Residents of Overlook Point and Redwood Farms are raising objections to the location of a new Navy “prison fence,” which abutts residential properties.
The residents are petitioning the Town Council to request the Navy move the planned fence to its original 70-year-old location.
According to residents, the Navy’s newly proposed fence is currently planned to go through sheds, gardens, and even a deck post. The new fence will even block access to a driveway and stop within 10 feet of a condo’s doorway.
The Overlook Point and Redwood Farms residents will bring their cause to the Town Council at Monday’s meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
