Police announce road closures for Saturday parade

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Portsmouth police announced Saturday road closures for the homecoming parade being held Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. 

On Saturday, the Portsmouth High School will hold its homecoming parade, which should conclude by 1 p.m.

The parade will begin on East Main Road at Patriots Drive and travel south on East Main Road towards Turnpike Avenue. The parade will then continue west on Turnpike Avenue and travel to Memorial Drive, where it will conclude at the football field. 

The Portsmouth Police Department announces the following road closures:

  • East Main Road (for southbound traffic) will be closed just prior to the start of the parade at Patriots Drive.
  • East Main Road (for northbound traffic) will be closed at Turnpike Avenue when the parade begins.
  • Turnpike Avenue will be closed between East Main Road and Memorial Drive

Motorists are encouraged to use Route 114 (West Main Road) to avoid traffic congestion.
