Police station, crosswalks top council agenda

Portsmouth residents reacted with mostly anger and frustration after the Portsmouth Town Council nearly doubled the Transfer Station sticker fee, the price to dispose of trash and recycling.

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — An update about the future Portsmouth Police Station and a request to the state to install crosswalks top the Portsmouth Town Council’s agenda for Sept. 25. 

On the next council agenda, Town Administrator Richard A. Rainer will present an update on the police station and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for curbside trash pickup services. 

The council will also discuss requesting the state Traffic Commission to install crosswalks and pedestrian push-to-walk buttons at two intersections: Hedly Street and West Main Road, and Hedly Street and East Main Road.
