Alleged ‘porch pirate’ turns herself in to police

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Portsmouth police have charged the suspected “porch pirate,” who is accused of stealing a package from a Wapping Road residence. 

On March 7, Portsmouth police received a complaint of package theft that allegedly occurred on March 4 from a residence on Wapping Road.

After an investigation and review of the evidence, an affidavit arrest warrant was issued for 21-year-old Cheyanne Brannen of 74 Islington Ave., Portsmouth, on larceny charges.

Brannen turned herself in on the warrant on March 10 and was held overnight.

She was transported to the Women’s Intake Center at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI), where she was held on another violation. Brannen will be arraigned on the larceny charge in Second District Court on Monday.
