PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Ragged Island Brewing Co., the first brewery in Portsmouth, will hold a canned food drive this week to benefit the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Newport.
On Thursday, March 8, Ragged Island will release its second batch of cans, including Surfer’s End, Hydrofoil, and TwoTree IPA.
In addition to releasing these cans, the brewery will partner with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center to help stock their food pantry.
Every customer that brings in a canned good or another non-perishable food item, will save $1 on a four-pack purchase on March 8.
The Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. Community Center is a multi-service agency providing nutritional, educational, social and referral services to hundreds of individuals and families throughout Newport County.
Incorporated in 1922 and renamed in honor of Dr. King in 1968, the MLK is one of Newport’s oldest grassroots organizations. The privately funded, non-profit community center offers the area’s highest-volume food pantry and only daily meal site, plus a comprehensive roster of educational and enrichment programs.
Ragged Island, located at 200 High Point Ave., Unit B6, in Portsmouth, opened on March 17, 2017, after more than a year of planning. The brewery is open Thursdays through Sunday.
