Town to celebrate Fourth of July with fireworks, reading

People of all ages are invited to watch fireworks and participate in the 4th annual public reading of the Declaration of Independence this Fourth of July.

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — People of all ages are invited to participate in the 4th annual public reading of the Declaration of Independence. 

The reading will be held on the Fourth of July at 10 a.m. on the grounds of Portsmouth Free Public Library.

Each person may read aloud a marked section of our nation’s founding document.

Copies will be available free of charge or bring your own. In case of rain, this event will be held in the library’s program room.

Fireworks

Escobar’s Farm will once again hold its annual fireworks display on the Fourth of July at 9:30 p.m.

Seating is available along East Main Road near Subway and the Town Hall. 

This event, which is open to the public, is privately funded by Louis Escobar at his dairy farm. Donations are welcome.
