PORTSMOUTH, R.I. —The Portsmouth Fire Department will host an open house at the fire station on Sunday, Oct. 15, from noon to 2 p.m.
Please bring your family and friends to visit the fire station and help us celebrate Fire Prevention Week.
Take a tour of the station and view apparatus, which includes two, 2011 E1 pumpers and a 95-foot tower ladder. Check out our three ambulances, and two boats, that are housed here.
Firefighters will be on hand to answer questions about day-today operations of the department, and how the department responds to emergency calls. Fire prevention education will be available, and kids will be provided with fire safety coloring books.
Visitors can take a tour of the Town’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located upstairs in the station. The Town of Portsmouth’s Emergency Management Director will be on hand to answer questions about the EOC and how it functions during a large-scale emergency such as a hurricane.
Children can look through the trucks and have an opportunity to use a real fire hose. Light food will also be provided and there is no cost.
