PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — A brand new outdoor activity for exploring Narragansett Bay, Rail Explorers, is expected to start this April in Portsmouth.
“Ride the rails on our pedal powered ‘rail explorers’ – a unique activity suitable for everyone,” according to the Rail Explorers’ website.
Participants rent either a 2-person Tandem Explorer or a 4-person Quad Explorer and pedal along the railroad tracks located along the west side of Portsmouth and Aquidneck Island.
The Rail Explorers: Rhode Island Division, presented by the Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad, will feature a historic exploration of the railroad between Newport and Common Fence Point.
The Rhode Island Division will open in April with ticket sales opening in March, according to the Rail Explorers’ website.
While tickets are not available yet, gift cards are available to purchase on the website. Gift cards range from $75 for a 2-person Tandem Explorer to $125 for a 4-person Quad Explorer.
