More wintry weather; accumulating snow on way for Sunday, Monday

Winter is not over yet. A Blizzard Watch is in effect from late Monday night into Tuesday night, 6 days before the first day of spring.

The following was updated at 6:56 p.m. Saturday. Expected snow totals have increased. 

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — More wintry weather and accumulating snow is expected to arrive Sunday into Monday morning. How much snow will arrive? Find out here.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow, sleet and rain is expected to arrive Sunday evening into Monday morning. 

Portsmouth could see 2 to 4 inches of snow by Monday afternoon. However, the snow totals could change depending on the track of the storm.

The following Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday. 

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM SUNDAY TO
7 PM EST MONDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Coastal Rhode Island including Block Island, as
  well as Martha`s Vineyard.

* HAZARD TYPES...Periods of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

* ACCUMULATIONS...2 to 4 inches of snow.

* TIMING...A wintry mix will start tomorrow morning,
  transitioning to a mix of both rain and snow at times before
  becoming all rain late in the day. Some snow will return late
  Sunday night and continue Monday.

* IMPACTS...The mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain could lead to
  hazardous travel conditions at times.

* WINDS...North 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* TEMPERATURES...In the lower 30s.

* VISIBILITIES...One quarter to one half mile at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
driving.

The following is the forecast for Sunday into Monday, according to the NWS.

Sunday
Areas of snow and freezing drizzle before 9am, then a chance of snow between 9am and 11am, then rain and snow after 11am. High near 35. North wind 7 to 13 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday Night
Rain and snow before 4am, then a chance of snow. Areas of blowing snow after 4am. Low around 31. East wind 6 to 16 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Monday
Snow likely, mainly before 9am. Areas of blowing snow. Cloudy, with a high near 32. Breezy, with a northwest wind 22 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Monday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Blustery, with a northwest wind 13 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph.
