PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The town of Portsmouth will display an informational exhibit in Town Hall in June to inform the public of the town’s efforts to upgrade the streetlight system.
The exhibit will be available from June 7 to 22 during business hours at Town Hall, 2200 East Main Road.
“Nationally, municipalities are switching to LED streetlights for the same reason residents are switching to them in their homes – they last far longer than traditional lights, use far less energy, and are more reliable,” according to a town press release.
“By upgrading our streetlight network to LED, the town will save energy, promote sustainability and increase the
reliability of our lights.”
Representatives from the town and the Partnership for Rhode Island Streetlight Management (PRISM) will also host a public forum on Thursday, June 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers at Town Hall.
The forum is designed to provide public information, answer questions, and solicit public comment.
Additional information on this project can be found at the Town’s website, portsmouthri.com.
