Town of Portsmouth reminds residents to follow yard waste disposal rules

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Town of Portsmouth is reminding residents with a valid Transfer Station sticker to follow yard waste disposal guidelines. 

Yard waste will continue to be collected in open bins located outside of the main building at the Transfer Station.

Residents are asked to adhere to the following guidelines for proper disposal.

Yard waste, leaves and branches should be cut into 3-foot- lengths and bundle with cotton, jute or other biodegradable twine (no larger than 2 inches in diameter). 

Leaves and small twigs should be in paper yard bags. No plastic bags.

The collection of yard waste is for residential use only. Landscapers will be turned away.
