Traffic light request tops council agenda

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Town Council will hear a request for another traffic light at its next council meeting on Monday night.

Debra Clements of Portsmouth, writing on behalf of other Bramans Lane residents, will request the council to look into installing a traffic light at the intersection of East Main Road and Bramans Lane.

“Each day it is a struggle to get out of our street,” writes Clements in a letter to the council.

Since East Main Road is a state road and, like a recent request for a traffic light the entrance of the Gardner Seveney Sports Complex, the installation of a new traffic light would require state approval.

The council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. The entire council agenda can be viewed below.
