PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Find out what’s open and closed on the Fourth of July this Tuesday, July 4, in Portsmouth. 

 

Closed 

Town Hall and the Transfer Station will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in celebration of Independence Day. The Transfer Station will also be closed Wednesday as usual. 

Portsmouth schools are closed for the summer! 

 

Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence

The Portsmouth Free Public Library will be be closed Tuesday, July 4.

However, “People of all ages are invited to participate in the fourth annual public reading of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at 10 a.m. on the grounds of Portsmouth Free Public Library.

“Each person may read aloud a marked section of our nation’s founding document. Copies will be available free of charge or bring your own.

“In case of rain this event will be held in the library’s program room. For questions or further information contact Anne Wagner, organizer, at 683-3272. No advance registration is required.”
