PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — A Little Compton woman was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after police discovered evidence of a vehicle driving without tires.
The following arrest reports were provided by the Portsmouth Police Department.
Little Compton woman charged with DUI
Kourtney Elizabeth Condon, 24, of 51 John Dyer Road, Little Compton, was arrested on July 28 at 2:09 a.m. and charged with DUI, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
On July 28 at 1:47 a.m., police received a call from State Police on patrol about a vehicle traveling on East Main Road with a flat tire. While checking the area, police observed what appeared to be marks in the roadway consistent with vehicle rims dragging on the pavement.
Police then received another call about a vehicle on Pheasant Drive driving with its headlights off. Police soon discovered a vehicle on Pheasant Drive that was partially off the roadway.
Upon arrival, the officer could hear the engine revving and what appeared to be tires spinning. The vehicle was wedged up against a rock, preventing the vehicle from moving. Police also observed both tires gone from the passenger side of the vehicle, which was resting on its rims.
There was also a gouge on the passenger side of the vehicle. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol.
After failing a field sobriety test, the driver, identified as Condon, was transported to the police station where she refused a chemical test. Police also tracked down a vehicle believed to be struck by the suspect’s vehicle on Quail Road.
