Harwinder Singh, 9, a fourth-grader could not be able to live a decade after being fatally shot by a 14-year-old boy; suspect is now set for trial.
Nine-year-old Harwinder Singh, a fourth-grader, is dead after being fatally shot by a teenager prosecutors did not name.
Due to his age, the teenager’s name is not disclosed to the public. Moreover, dispositions and proceedings of the case would be held secret in juvenile court, where he he is set for trial.
The suspect, who fatally shot Singh, is a 14-year-old teenager thus making the trial to be private.
According to an article by the U.S. News, the adolescent informed authorities that he was in a car with Singh and a 43-year-old man.
Singh was fatally shot in the head by the teenager after the man left them to enter a nearby store and the boy discovered a gun in the glove box, in accordance to the criminal complaint.
The teenager asserts that it was an accident and he had no control of the weapon resulting to have fatally shot the 9-year-old Singh.
After having Harwinder Singh fatally shot, the teenager is charged with one count of second-degree reckless homicide, possessing a dangerous weapon by a minor, and obstructing an officer, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The gun that was used to have fatally shot Singh was taken from the scene by a witness who knew the boys and the 43-year-old man, but subsequently came back to hand the gun to Milwaukee police.
It is still not clear to the investigators the relationship of the two young boys, as well as their relationship to the 43-year-old man they were with in the car.
It is very unfortunate and sad to think that poor Harwinder Singh was fatally shot 3 days before his 10th birthday.
The crime happened in a parking lot of a strip mall on July 24, as reported by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an article of Antigo Daily Journal. The charged teenager initially told the investigators that he tried to get the gun from Singh as the 9-year-old had it first and said Singh fatally shot himself by accident.
The adolescent, who had fatally shot the victim, said that five days in jail would be suitable when being asked what punishments he should get, in accordance to the complaint.
According to the newspaper, prosecutors haven’t decided yet whether or not to charge the 43-year-old man after the incident.
