Gasoline Prices Soar to New Heights in San Diego County: 18th Increase in 20 Days
The cost of fuel in San Diego County continues to climb, with the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline increasing for the 18th time in the last 20 days. On Sunday, it rose by 3 cents to reach a staggering $6.032 per gallon, marking its highest point since October 17.
Over the past 20 days, the average price has surged by a notable 65 cents, including a 2.8 cent increase on Saturday, according to data from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
This recent trend saw the average price rising for 16 consecutive days, briefly dropping by half a cent on Thursday and 1.5 cents on Friday, before resuming its upward trajectory on Saturday. Comparatively, it now stands 21.3 cents higher than it did just a week ago, a significant 68.5 cents more expensive than one month ago, and 38 cents above the prices recorded one year ago.

Gasoline Prices in San Diego: Relief and National Trends
As indicated in the article of Times in San Diego, it’s important to note that the average price has seen a noticeable drop of 40.3 cents since it reached its peak at a record-breaking $6.435 on October 5.
On a national scale, the average gasoline price has witnessed a decline for the sixth consecutive day following an 11-day stretch of increases that added up to 7.8 cents. It decreased by four-tenths of a cent, reaching $3.847 per gallon. While this national average is 2.9 cents lower than it was a week ago, it remains 1 cent higher than it was one month ago and is up by 14.7 cents compared to the same period last year.
Looking further back, the national average has seen a substantial drop of $1.169 since it hit an all-time high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
