Bronx Day Care Center Owner’s Husband Linked to Fentanyl Tragedy in Mexico
FOX NEWS – The husband of a Bronx, New York, day care center owner has been apprehended in Sinaloa, Mexico, in connection to the tragic overdose of a 1-year-old child who may have been exposed to fentanyl at the facility earlier this month. This shocking incident has brought to light the far-reaching consequences of the opioid crisis, with law enforcement agencies from both the United States and Mexico collaborating to bring those responsible to justice.
Felix Herrera Garcia, the husband of Grei Mendez De Ventura, was taken into custody in Sinaloa, a region known for its association with drug trafficking, particularly the notorious Sinaloa drug trafficking cartel, once under the leadership of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Garcia’s arrest is the latest development in a case that has sent shockwaves through both countries.
Earlier in September, Mendez De Ventura and her neighbor, Carlisto Acevedo Brito, were arrested by federal authorities in New York City. They were charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death and narcotics distribution resulting in death, offenses that carry maximum sentences of life in prison. These arrests followed the discovery of Nicholas Dominici, a 1-year-old who tragically lost his life, along with two 2-year-old boys and an 8-month-old girl who were found unresponsive in the basement of the Bronx day care center facility.

Fentanyl Epidemic Escalates: ‘El Gallo’ Arrested in Growing Sinaloa Cartel Investigation
Adding to the complexity of the case, the Department of Justice recently revealed a criminal complaint against 38 year old Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, also known as El Gallo. Parra Paredes faces charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death, further deepening the investigation into the narcotics distribution network.
The backdrop of this tragic incident is the alarming rise of fentanyl trafficking, particularly in the Sinaloa region. In April, the Drug Enforcement Administration identified the Sinaloa Cartel as the largest, most violent, and most prolific fentanyl trafficking operation in the world. The DEA specifically mentioned Los Chapitos, including Ivan Archivaldo, Jesus Alfredo, Joaquin, and Ovidio Guzman, all sons of the infamous El Chapo Guzman, as key figures within the cartel.
