On Tuesday, sentences were handed down in the murder case of a former high school basketball star from Paris High School. Two will continue to be in prison, and one will continue to be on probation.
Je’kobi, Wells, a former high school basketball player, was discovered bleeding on the side of the road in Paris on a chilly December day in 2020. After being shot multiple times, the former high school basketball player was shoved from a car. The former high school basketball star, age 21, was left for dead.
The mother of the former high school player, Gina Willis, is unable to get over the conclusion.
Gina Willis said, “I always think about Je’Kobi being shoved out of that car, and that tears me up because he was shoved out like trash and left.

In that case, all three suspects entered guilty pleas for their participation of killing the former high school basketball player.
Each person appeared before a judge on Tuesday to learn their fate. Prior to imposing a sentence, Willis read a victim impact statement.
Tyre Connor admitted to manslaughter and evidence tampering.
“I always think about Je’Kobi being pushed out of that car, and that tears me up because he was pushed out like trash and left,” Gina Willis said.
All three of the suspects of killing the former high school basketball player pleaded guilty to their involvement in that case.
On Tuesday, each defendant appeared before the court to learn their fate, and Willis read a victim impact statement before imposing a sentence.
Tyre Connor acknowledged manslaughter and falsifying evidence.
“Mr. Wells didn’t have the chance to restart his life at the end of the day. His life is over,” said Judge Mattox.
Emilia Zahabi-Wisdom entered a plea of guilty to tampering with evidence and complicity to facilitation of murder.Due to her cooperation in the case, the prosecution recommended probation. Judge concurred.
She made a turn to speak to the family in court.
“I really am sorry,” Zahabi-Wisdom said.
Wells, the former high school player, was a multi-sport athlete. The former high school basketball player also played football and ran track.
It was really a tragic event to what happened to the former high school basketball player. A memorial scholarship was created in Je’Kobi’s honor. Ten students from Paris Middle and High School received a year-long membership to the YMCA.
