China expresses strong disapproval of US investment restrictions in China, according to the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson.

From the article posted by Shanghai Daily, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said that China strongly disapproves and opposes the restrictions on the investments of the United States in China.

Reports have stated that on the early morning of August 10th, Beijing Time, United States President Joe Biden has signed the executive order on setting screening mechanisms on outbound investments, as well as restricting investments in the semiconductor and microelectronic, quantum informational technology, and artificial intelligence in China. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said that in restricting US companies’ investments in China, with national security as a cover, it is clear that the US is overstretching the concept of security and politicizing business engagement. This move from the US has made serious political step on their side, according to Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson.

The restrictions of US investments in China are said to de-globalize and phase out China, said the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson has said that the restriction is an economic coercion and tech bullying that violates the principle of market economy; and this move will hurt the interests of both China and the United States. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said that President Biden has not made any commitment in seeking to decouple from China. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson urged the US to follow through on the commitments and immediately cancel their wrong decisions. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson also stated that the US should remove the restrictions on US investments in China. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said that the US should make an enabling environment for the business cooperation of China and the USA.

China will keep close track of the developments and safeguard their rights and interests, said Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson.
