In a recent article published by Metro, Lori Vallow Daybell, the Doomsday mom who was found guilty of murdering her two children, has appealed her conviction.
The attorneys of doomsday mom case Vallow appealed her conviction after examining alleged errors in her two year-long trial. Doomsday mom case Vallow was found guilty for two counts of first-degree murder.
Doomsday mom case Vallow’s children were last seen in September 2019. In June 2020, their remains were discovered by investigators buried in her husband Chad Daybell’s backyard. The doomsday mom case Vallow was also found guilty of conspiring to kill Daybell’s ex-wife, Tammy Daybell. In July, she was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

On Tuesday, doomsday mom case Vallow’s attorney James Archibald, filed an appeal to the Idaho Supreme Court, providing 16 procedural errors that they claim occurred during her trial. First on Archibald’s list was that the doomsday mom case Vallow’s mental state made her competent to stand trial.
According to the filing, Archibald is asking the court to consider if the lower court was correct in ordering doomsday mom case competent shortly after she spent 10 months in a mental hospital. They also requests that the court unseal doomsday mom case Vallow’s record, which include the records of her competency hearings and her pre-sentencing mental health report.
Archibald also requested that the state assign doomsday mom case Vallow a public defender, as she can no longer afford to pay her legal fees. Doomsday mom case Vallow has continued to maintain her innocence since the verdict was delivered in May. At her sentencing, Vallow stood before the judge and victims’ family members and made a bizarre statement claiming that she speaks with her deceased children in heaven.
