Gwinnett County Police Department’s Swift Response to Tragic Death Investigation
According to nextshark.com, the Gwinnett County Police Department has apprehended six individuals associated with the “Soldiers of Christ” religious group, accusing them of being responsible for the death of a South Korean woman who endured severe beatings and starvation over an extended period. This case has now evolved into a homicide investigation, officially confirmed by the Gwinnett County Police Department.
The six suspects include Eric Hyun, 26, who was driving the vehicle where the victim’s body was discovered. The victim, a woman in her 20s or 30s weighing just 70 pounds, was found in Hyun’s car. The other suspects, all residents of Lawrenceville, Georgia, are Gawom Lee, Joonho Lee, Juoonhyum Lee, Hyunji Lee, and a 15-year-old who has been charged as an adult. It’s worth noting that one of the suspects is a South Korean national, while the rest are American citizens.
The incident unfolded when Hyun parked his car at Jeju Sauna on 3555 Gwinnett Place Drive, later seeking medical help at a nearby hospital for an unrelated injury. During this time, he requested a family member to retrieve something from his vehicle. Tragically, the family member discovered the lifeless body of the woman in Hyun’s trunk, prompting an immediate 911 call to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Gwinnett County Police Department’s Focus on Crime Scene and Ongoing Investigation
The Gwinnett County Police Department then conducted a search warrant at Hyun’s home in Stable Gate, Georgia suspecting that the crime occurred in his basement. Investigators believe the victim arrived in the United States in the Summer of 2023 to join the religious group.
She suffered weeks of malnourishment and beatings with the Medical Examiner’s Office indicating that malnourishment played a role in her death. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of her death.
All six suspects, including the juvenile, now face charges of felony murder, false imprisonment, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of another. Furthermore, the Gwinnett County Police Department has obtained criminal street gang warrants for each of the arrested suspects.
