Week one of the 2023 NFL season provided entertainment as the sport’s return. Despite the first day of the 2023 NFL season being full on field storylines, the battle was taken off the gridiron and onto social media.
CLEVELAND BROWNS – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Divisional games usually have a heightened sense of hostility, however, Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase entered the 2023 NFL season’s Sunday game feeling quite the opposite. He said that it felt like a regular game to him. He said that he does not pay attention because Cleveland is Cleveland, and although he looks forward to their match ups, he does not really care.
Cleveland Browns respond by thumping Cincinnati in its first season opening win by 20 points, and trolling its in state rival in Twitter.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS – INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Anthony Richardson’s 2023 NFL season debut marked the eighth consecutive season opener for the Indianapolis Colts with a different starting quarterback, but the result was painstakingly familiar with a loss.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville managed to snap a five game losing streak at Lucas Oil Stadium.
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS – ARIZONA CARDINALS
Washington kicked off the new ownership group era with a victory over the Cardinals. The Commanders gutted out the win after scoring the Cardinals 10 to 3 in the second half.
Washington posted on their social media a classic clip from the cartoon The Simpson, trolling Arizona’s 2023 NFL season week 1 loss.

The 2023 NFL season opening Sunday proved to be very entertaining with teams exchanging barbs with each other on and off the field.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS – TENNESSEE TITANS
New Orleans held on after Tennessee made a one point game with 2:17 time remaining in the fourth quarter. However, a 41 yard Rashid Shaheed reception put the Saints in the field goal position to ice the game. Chris Olave lived up to his offseason hype with 8 receptions and 112 yards.
But the biggest winner of the game was the Twitter Post of the Saints’ wordplay: week one? week won.
SAN FRANSISCO 49ERS – PITTSBURGH STEELERS
After an offseason where Tray Lance was traded and Nick Bosa agreed to an extension, the 49ers showed why they are one of the favorites to make the Super Bowl. Christian McCaffrey ran for 159 yards and 1 touchdown. But Brandon Aiyuk stole the show with 8 receptions for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns. It is back to the drawing board for the Steelers who were trolled twice on Social Media by the 49ers: red and gold > black and yellow.
GREEN BAY PACKERS – CHICAGO BEARS
The Packers and Jordan Love defeated their oldest rival to open up the 2023 NFL season. Love threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Chicago had two turnovers including a pick six by Quay Walker that put the Packers up by 24 points. Bears Quarterback, Justin Fields, had 216 yards and a touchdown, along with 59 yards on the ground.
Like other teams on Sunday, the Packers used wordplay to troll Chicago bears: putting the WIN in Windy City.
