After allegedly failing to pay rent for her clothing store, Swagg Boutique, NeNe Leakes is being sued by her landlord.

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, NeNe Leakes, was sued by her landlord on Tuesday, August 15, for overdue rent for Swagg Boutique.

According to Madame Noire, the landlord filed the lawsuit in Fulton County, GA, claiming that NeNe Leakes owed a $22,990 in back rent for the retail space that she leased at the Sugarloaf Mills shopping center that the landlord owed to set up her clothing store, Swagg Boutique.

According to the plaintiff, NeNe Leakes signed the lease contract for her store in 2017 and extended the agreement for another in 2021. Before taking legal actions, the landlord said that a letter was sent to NeNe Leakes demanding her payment.

Now that things are escalating to pursuing legal actions, the landlord is doing for the rent owed, attorney’s fees, and court costs.

After the news was out, NeNe Leakes was judged harshly by people for not paying her landlord the agreed rent.

According to Fox Bangor, NeNe Leakes’s clothing store, Swagg Boutique, was closed in 2020 during the pandemic. It wasn’t long after when the NeNe Leakes opened the store back and began holding a “going out of business” sales at different locations.

NeNe Leakes responded to one commenter to clarify that her husband, Gregg, handled the store’s rent. NeNe Leakes wrote, “Gregg signed the lease, not me! He ain’t here.”
