Santa Clara, California, has set aside $4 million to invest in this two-year program.

The program’s present beneficiaries are former foster youngsters, with additional persons becoming eligible in the coming years:

Young mothers will join in the spring of 2024.
Individuals connected in the justice system – summer of 2024
Homeless high school seniors will be accepted in the summer of 2025.

“A guaranteed basic income plays a significant role in solidifying our county safety net and countering the myth that poverty is a moral failing of individuals rather than the result of systemic failures,” county supervisor and board president Susan Ellenberg said in a statement.

Although direct payments are becoming less typical as 2023 enters the second half of the year, some Americans may still receive some additional cash later this year.

It has been more than a year since the federal government granted stimulus grants to assist those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and surging inflation. Since then, taxpayers have relied on states to distribute government funding in the form of rebates, loans, tax refunds, and one-time payments.

While Americans await their stimulus cheques, the Internal Revenue Service has provided a tool to help them keep track of their payments.

The IRS started tax season earlier this year, in January, with a deadline of April 15 to file without penalty.

Most tax returns are handled within 21 days, or six to eight weeks if you file by paper, although it is conceivable that your tax return will take longer if it requires additional examination.

The IRS reported that as of September 30, it had 5.8 million unprocessed individual returns, including those received last year and those for the 2021 tax year.
