Biden Administration’s Ghost Gun Regulation to Stay in Effect Temporarily

According to the published article from Yourerie, in Washington, the Supreme Court issued an order maintaining the current ghost gun regulations. This decision comes as the utilization of ghost guns in criminal activities has witnessed an astonishing 1000% increase since 2017, according to data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

The Biden administration’s temporary retention of ghost gun regulations underscores their commitment to addressing this issue. These regulations explicitly define gun assembly kits within the scope of firearms and subject them to necessary oversight. Nick Suplina, representing Everytown for Gun Safety, emphasized, “The action taken by ATF will save lives if that law stays on the books. Ghost guns are very attractive to criminals, extremists, hate groups because they’re un-serialized and untraceable.”

The ghost gun regulations landscape sees the newly reinforced regulations dictating mandatory licensing for both manufacturers and sellers, alongside mandating the inclusion of serial numbers on ghost gun kits. This means that acquiring a ghost gun would necessitate individuals to undergo a thorough background check. Amidst these pivotal ghost gun regulations developments, Dave Workman from the Second Amendment Foundation puts forth the viewpoint that the term “ghost gun” is frequently manipulated to unfairly stigmatize a widespread and lawful activity.

Untraceable Threat: Criminals Using Ghost Guns Often Impossible to Track

According to the Fox 2 News published article, “Crafting firearms at home has been a tradition since colonial days,” Workman remarked. He contends that the lack of traceability in gun kits shouldn’t be a major concern, a perspective that runs parallel to the context of existing ghost gun regulations.

“While this might trouble some individuals, others seek untraceable firearms to avoid government knowledge of their possession,” Workman explained, considering the backdrop of established ghost gun regulations.

Conversely, the administration presents a counterargument, emphasizing the challenge of apprehending individuals who use unregistered ghost guns in criminal activities. This challenge often remains insurmountable due to the elusive nature of these firearms and the associated regulations.”
