You don’t hear the words “dangerous” and “Connecticut” together very frequently. However, Connecticut has unsafe areas to avoid just like any other state.

According to Only in your State,  tt is real. And among the riskiest areas in Connecticut are the cities listed below. But don’t panic too much. In general, Connecticut’s most dangerous cities are still safer than 10% of all American cities. At the end of the day, Connecticut has a lot of great places to call home. But the facts can’t be disputed. The crime rates in Connecticut’s most hazardous cities are greater than those in the rest of the state.

According to House Grail, Cconnecticut is regarded as one of the wealthiest and safest states, with the greatest per-capita income of any state. With only 184.6 violent crimes per 100,000 people, it has the fourth-lowest violent crime rate in the nation, a significant decrease from the national average of 379 violent crimes per 100,000. While Stamford is barely outside the top 10 cities with the highest rates of violent crime, the other three most populous cities in the state make up the top three.

In addition, Bridgeport has the second-highest murder rate per resident in 2012. It’s also rumored to be one of Connecticut’s most haunted towns, which is interesting.

Despite being fairly attractive and bursting with things to do, the capital of Connecticut is actually the 45th most hazardous city in the country. There is a 1 in 85 risk that a resident will be the victim of a violent crime, and a 1 in 18 chance that they will be.

Yale’s campus is pretty well fortified and fenced. The most dangerous city in Connecticut is New Haven, which ranks as the 36th most dangerous city overall. Residents in New Haven have a one in 80 risk of becoming the victim of a violent crime, and the city tops the list for both violent and property crimes.
