According to POLITICO, Prior to Tuesday’s declaration initiating a formal impeachment inquiry, former President Donald Trump spoke with a member of leadership about his support for the House GOP’s effort to impeach President Joe Biden.
Elise Stefanik, the chair of the House GOP Conference and the first member of the Republican leadership to publicly endorse impeachment, has been the subject of weekly conversations between the former President Donald and Stefanik. According to two people familiar with the call, the two met on Tuesday following House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s announcement that Republicans would pursue the investigation.

Stefanik has long supported Trump. Prior to his official declaration, she embraced his comeback presidential candidacy and has been considered as a potential Trump vice presidential selection should he capture the GOP ticket.
According to New York Times, During a Sunday night dinner with Marjorie Taylor Greene, a close political ally, former president Donald J. Trump dined on a spacious patio with views of the golf course at his exclusive club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The former President Donald had the chance to hook up with the hard-right Georgia representative. But Ms. Greene brought up a topic of great importance to former President Donald over halibut and Diet Cokes: the effort by House Republicans to impeach his likely rival in the upcoming election.
Just two nights prior to Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s announcement on Tuesday that he had decided to launch the start of an impeachment investigation into Vice President Biden due to tremendous pressure from his right flank, former President Donald had dinner with Ms. Greene.
