40 Year Old Woman Arrested in Buena Park Target Arson Case; Allegedly Set Fire to Steal Baby Formula

According to Epoch Times article, in Buena Park, California, a 40 year old woman named Cynthia Torres finds herself in police custody on allegations of arson connected to a local Target store, as reported by authorities on September 13th. Her arrest transpired on September 12th, as confirmed by the Buena Park Police Department, which asserted that Ms. Torres is suspected of deliberately igniting a fire as part of a scheme to steal baby formula from the store.

This incident involving a 40 year old woman unfolded on the evening of September 5th when a fire was reported at the Target store located at 7530 Orangethorpe Ave. and Western Avenue. Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority promptly responded to the scene, where they encountered store employees who had already begun efforts to extinguish the blaze.

Although the fire was contained, the store was significantly filled with smoke, resulting in the evacuation of shoppers by firefighters.

Joint Investigation Identifies 40 Year Old Woman as Arson Suspect in Buena Park Target Fire; $1 Million in Losses Incurred

According to the ABC7 News, a comprehensive investigation into the incident involving a 40 year old woman was conducted jointly by the Orange County Fire Authority arson investigators and the Buena Park Police. This collaborative effort led to the identification of Cynthia Torres as a suspect in the arson case.

According to law enforcement officials, the damages incurred by the store are estimated to be in the range of $500,000, and the overall retail losses are projected to reach $1 million, primarily attributable to water and smoke damage caused by the fire. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of criminal acts and their impact on both businesses and communities.
