Oregon is known to be a beautiful state, really. But, beauty is not always enough a reason to move or travel to a place, especially if it might not be safe. For today’s list, what might be the dangerous places in Oregon? Read more to find out.

Movoto has released a list of the dangerous places in Oregon. They have gathered all the places in the state with populations of 10,000 people or more. Then they have used the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report to research each place according to: murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft/vehicle theft. Then they divided these into four different categories: murders, violent crimes, property crimes, and toral crimes.

 

1. MEDFORD. This is the first in the list of dangerous places in Oregon. This city has had a recent increase in crime. Medford has the second highest number of crimes overall in Oregon. Residents in the city has a 1 in 16 chance of being a victim of any type of crime.

2. PORTLAND. Portland is the second in the list of dangerous places in Oregon. In 2012, this city has the third most violent crimes and property crimes per person in the state. Residents in the city has 1 in 18 chance of being a victim of any crime.

3. ONTARIO. This city is the third in the list of dangerous places in Oregon. In 2012, Ontario had the most total crimes per person. This included both the highest number in violent crimes and property crimes per person. Residents here have a 1 in 12 chance of falling victim of a crime.

While this list may be the dangerous places in Oregon, but there certainly are safe places in the state.

4. GRESHAM. The fourth in the list of dangerous places in Oregon is Gresham. As far as violence goes, Gresham was among the worst. In 2012, this city had the highest number of violent crimes per 100,000 people in the state, including rapes, assaults, robberies, and the third highest number of murders. Residents may not be as likely to be the victim of crime, but they are most likely to be a victim of violence than any other places.

5. PENDLETON. This is the fifth in the list of dangerous places in Oregon. This city saw the second most murders per person in Oregon in 2012. This ranks as the 14th most violent crimes overall and the sixth most property crimes. All in all, residents here are more likely to be involved in a crime with 1 in 19 chances.

6. SALEM. Salem is the last in the list of dangerous places in Oregon. Salem is the political capital of Oregon, however, that does not mean that this city is immune to crime. Salem had the most murders per 100,000 people. This city also ranked pretty high in the number of property crimes. Residents had a 1 in 22 chance of falling victim to crime.
